In urban fire safety systems, outdoor fire hydrants serve as the “last mile” of emergency rescue, typically installed in public areas such as streets, squares, and building exteriors to facilitate rapid water supply for firefighters in emergencies. However, traditional fire hydrants have long faced challenges such as “difficulty in monitoring their status, difficulty in detecting malfunctions, and high maintenance costs,” posing potential hazards to urban fire safety.
The MD-S955 is a “non-destructive retrofit” intelligent fire hydrant monitoring terminal specifically designed by Mingkong Sensing for the fire protection field. Through its “full-state monitoring + easy installation + low maintenance” features, it addresses the pain points of existing outdoor fire hydrants being “difficult to monitor and manage.” Without altering the original appearance of the fire hydrant, it achieves multiple safety monitoring functions, including location, real-time water pressure monitoring, fire hydrant tilting monitoring, and water discharge monitoring, helping customers achieve low-cost intelligent upgrades of fire protection facilities and ensuring fire fighting and rescue safety.
01. Non-destructive modification, quick installation in 15 minutes
Traditional intelligent upgrades to fire hydrants often require road demolition and wiring, resulting in high costs and long construction periods. The MD-S955 combines a wireless pressure sensor with an intelligent fire hydrant cap, eliminating the need for excavation and wiring. It only replaces the existing cap (integrated with a wireless terminal) and valve disc (integrated with a pressure sensor), without altering the hydrant’s appearance or water flow rate, allowing for rapid upgrades to existing equipment. Commonly used caps with a diameter of DN100/150 can be directly replaced by unscrewing the original cap. Simply remove the hexagonal screws to open the hydrant body and replace the original valve disc. The entire process can be completed by two people in 15 minutes.
02 .Multi-dimensional monitoring, rapid response within 30s
Compared to the lag in traditional manual inspections, the MD-S955 enables real-time monitoring of the entire fire hydrant’s status, leaving no room for hidden safety hazards. It monitors parameters such as water pressure, tilt angle (to prevent displacement), and location in real time. Its built-in AI algorithm can identify anomalies such as leaks, lack of water, and impacts, providing early warnings and allowing for proactive response.
It quickly detects water discharge and hydrant opening actions within 30 seconds, promptly identifying unauthorized water use or abnormal equipment operation, preventing water waste or hydrant malfunction.
A 15° tilt threshold is matched to the risk of hydrant tipping (slight tilting will not trigger a false alarm, severe tilting will trigger an alarm), balancing sensitivity and practicality.
03. Worry-free maintenance, ultra-long battery life of over 3 years
Outdoor fire hydrants are constantly exposed to harsh environments such as rain, dust, and extreme temperatures, making equipment stability crucial. The MD-S955 is comprehensively adapted to various complex environments from its materials to its design:
- The MD-S955 boasts the highest IP68 protection rating, impervious to rain immersion and dust intrusion, and operates in temperatures ranging from -20℃ to 65℃, ensuring stable operation in various harsh outdoor environments and reducing malfunctions and maintenance due to insufficient protection.
- For different deployment environments and network conditions, it provides three wireless transmission methods: 4G, NB-IoT, and LoRa, ensuring stable data uploads across different areas.
- Equipped with a built-in 3.6V lithium-ion battery and a deeply low-power design, it boasts an ultra-long battery life of over 3 years, significantly reducing maintenance costs associated with battery replacements.
- With a measurement range of 0~2.5MPa, it meets the pressure monitoring needs of pipeline networks in different areas, ensuring that fire hydrant water pressure meets standards during fires and guaranteeing efficient firefighting and rescue operations. Its 0.5% high accuracy ensures accurate water pressure data, avoiding false alarms/missed alarms due to measurement errors.
04. Intelligent management, efficient collaboration between software and hardware
To further simplify equipment commissioning and maintenance processes, the MD-S955, paired with professional software tools, achieves end-to-end intelligent management.
- The LazyCat Equipment Health Management Cloud Platform focuses on the entire lifecycle health maintenance of equipment. Based on historical data and real-time monitoring, it predicts potential equipment failures and performs maintenance proactively. Users can view the equipment’s health status in real time via PC or mobile app, gaining a clear understanding of visualized equipment data.
The MD-S955 wireless fire hydrant smart terminal embodies the intelligent practice of the fire protection policy of “prevention first, combining prevention and firefighting” by shifting from “passive” to “active” and from “manual” to “intelligent”. Through lightweight modifications, it achieves high-efficiency monitoring, making every fire hydrant a “visible and manageable” safety barrier, thus building a solid defense for urban fire safety.
